The Housing
Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND) was formed in November, 1991
to increase the technical and productive capacity of Washington, DC metropolitan
area nonprofit housing developers by establishing periodic educational and
professional interaction opportunities. (www.handhousing.org)
An annual meeting is held each June which features the presentation of the HAND Housing Achievement Awards. The Awards recognize the finest in affordable housing projects, programs, and organizations during the preceding year. With keynote speaker Senator Edward M. Kennedy, last year’s annual meeting was the largest ever with over 400 attendees. A custom phone card was presented to each attendee to serve both as a recruitment tool for non-members and a “thank you” to current members. A custom greeting provided the additional benefit of directing callers to HAND’s newly-redesigned web site. The custom phone cards were so well received that several persons requested additional information about Corporate Phone Cards so that cards could be incorporated into their own events. In addition, it has already been decided that Corporate Phone Cards will be distributed to all attendees at next year’s meeting."
