The Gunnison Country Chamber of Commerce (www.gunnisonchamber.com ) is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Gunnison Colorado. It has also been the home of Western State College for the past 100 years. The Gunnison Chamber has been in existance since 1925 providing support to local area businesses as well as maintaining the local Visitor Center greeting over 75,000 guests to our community each year. The Gunnison Chamber maintains a very close working relationship with Western State College, establishing a variety of events and activities to help create a welcoming atmosphere for the students. In 2004 the Chamber created a fundraiser which consisted of a WSC canvas tote bag filled with free items, merchant coupons and WSC logo merchandise. The parents purchase a goodie bag for their student prior to the school year; the bags are then delived to the student as a gift from their parent following the start of school. Included in the goodie bag is a custom phone card, this is used as a promotional item for the Chamber and is a big selling point for the parents! While the chamber was delighted with the look of the finished phone card, the students have been most impressed with the customized message they received when they use their card!
