In 2001, JAHVH became the first veterans' hospital to receive the prestigious ANCC Magnet Designation. As a result JAHVH was the subject of a case study to evaluate the business case associated with this designation. A component of that research effort included a survey of nurses formerly employed at our facility. Telephone cards were included in the mailed surveys as a "thank you" for participation. The response was tremendous with several respondents thanking the survey team for the phone cards. This proved to be an effective measure to boost the survey's response rate. The hospital has continued to grow and mature into an influential force in the community. With state of the art technology and ever-growing academic affiliations, JAHVH is recognized by many for its quality care and innovative processes.
