Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium began offering funeral services in 1906 and is now the largest independently owned funeral and cremation service provider in New England. The firm is headquartered in Manchester, NH and operates three full service funeral homes, a cremation society, two crematories and a monument company. In 2005 the funeral homes (www.phaneuf.net), along with its sister company, the Cremation Society of New Hampshire (www.csnh.com), serviced the needs of over one thousand New England families. The firm is still family run and owned by fourth generation funeral director Arthur "Buddy" Phaneuf. Both the funeral home and cremation society have been using prepaid phone cards for several years as a marketing tool and as a gift for families they service. From a marketing perspective, both firms use free phone cards in conjunction with their direct mail campaign as an incentive to encourage people to request information on preplanning. The phone cards are also bundled into a number of the funeral home packaged funeral and cremation service offerings as a free gift to the family and as a small way to say thank you.
