NAHA is the third largest public housing authority in the state of Indiana. They supply housing units for 1,085 low-income families. However, they also supply more than bricks and mortar. NAHA values their residents and regularly opportunities for education, vocational training, job readiness training, job placement and retention services, and many other support services. In the same spirit, they provide a yearly Christmas card with a little gift. In 2005 they purchased custom-designed prepaid phone cards and gave one to each resident. They felt they may have loved one(s) to whom they would be unable to wish a "Merry Christmas or Happy New Year". The phone cards were a hit. They also served to let their customers know that they are appreciated. The cards that were not disbursed at Christmas are being used by their Family Support Specialists to reward the residents for accomplishments in their journey to self-sufficiency.
