Since 1954, Lakeview Center, Inc. (LCI) has been Pensacola, Florida's community mental health center. LCI provides counseling for stresses of modern living, psychiatric treatment, and substance abuse treatment. Services include individual, group, and family counseling; community support; crisis services; aftercare; vocational assistance; employee assistance services/programs; and a speakers bureau.
The Health Education Department of LCI includes three HIV/Substance abuse related components funded by various state and federal grants: Health Education Services, the HOPE Program, and the PHASE Program. Through these three programs, LCI clients and community residents receive HIV/STD/Hepatitis education, HIV testing & counseling, and linkage to treatment services. Through grants from local foundations, LCI Health Education has purchased phone cards from CorporatePhoneCards.com on several occasions. Phone cards have been used as incentives to encourage clients to return to pick up HIV test results, as well as to keep counseling and referral appointments. Test result returns alone have increased significantly since card incentives were incorporated.
