The Song "Hero at Home"

April Taylor takes her musical heritage seriously but when your great grandfather wrote songs with the world famous Carter Family, it just comes naturally. The Bristol, Tennessee native grew up surrounded by music and when one of her recordings found its way to producer and President of Plateau Music Tony Mantor, Mantor signed the young artist and began to search for songs for her debut project. They listened to hundreds of songs submitted by some of Nashville's hottest writers and publishing companies. Then one day Tony played April a song he had found at one of the city's smaller publishing houses. That song was "Hero At Home" by writers Paul Harbin, Sandi and Charles Kight.

April was immediately drawn to the song because, "My mother's father was deployed to Korea and left my grandmother at home with 4 small children.  She has told me so many stories of the struggles she went through while he was away. I also have a really good friend whose husband is in Iraq now.  He has been gone for over a year. When she talks about her life and about her three small children at home, I hear the same struggles that my grandmother went through. When I first heard the song, I immediately thought of their lives." Mantor described the song as, "A message that we all need to hear and remember, because it is the wives and families that are left behind that are truly the unsung heroes. When April told me about her background, I knew it would be a very natural fit for her."

Over the next year, Taylor and Mantor worked in the studio recording "Hero At Home" and eleven other songs to create the CD, I Wanna Live Like That . But through all their work it was the special message carried in both the words of "Hero At Home" and in the emotion brought to life by April's voice that cried out to be heard and Mantor selected it as the first single release.

Mantor contacted Chuck Thompson, President of the Thompson Entertainment Group, to work with the label planning and the release of the single and the CD. A fully integrated plan to introduce the project to the public, to radio stations, video channels and music stores across the US was launched in September.

Two separate components of the plan utilize a prepaid phone card designed to feature the album cover image and a special greeting from April. One component of the single marketing campaign revolves around a radio station "prize package" including the phone cards combined with April Taylor merchandise and items from local advertising merchants that will allow each radio station or video program to customize the package for their particular market. Additional fundraising concerts are another component of the campaign. All proceeds raised by the concert events will be used to manufacture additional phone cards that will be shipped to troops overseas allowing them to call their own, "Hero At Home".
